Well, I've come full circle! One of the main reasons for building a CNC machine was to be able to make my own ground glass holders - and I've started! I will catalog my results from the many tests (I'm sure) I'm about to try...

A ground glass holder is a part in a 35MM adapter for standard camcorders. Briefly, a 35MM adapter allows you to use regular 35mm lenses on the end of your camcorder for getting a good depth of field (something that's difficult with a regular camcorder lens) - the key component in the 35mm adapter is a focusing screen, usually made of ground glass (think frosted glass) -the screen is vibrated because without it vibrating you can see the grain and dust particles and such on the focusing screen.

The focusing screen can be made or bought from several sources - but the thing that HOLDS it in line with the 35mm lens cannot!

At the time of this writing there is only one place to buy a ground glass holder - From Daniel - Now I'm sure his products are of superb quality, and I'm not looking to "compete" in any way with Daniel - nor do I want to borrow or steal any of his ideas - he's worked hard for his design and I commend him for the research he's done and for all he does in giving back to the community! :)

With that said - if you have one of Daniel's adapters - I DO NOT want to know how it's put together nor how it works! Part of WHY I'm doing this at all is to come up with my own design and my own solution :)

if you want a good example of what "depth of Field" is - jump over to www.vimeo.com and search for "35mm adapter"

Make sure to look at the "Article Index" to the right -they will be growing as I try different ideas!

Need Custom Parts?

If you're looking to have custom parts made on a CNC - give me a shot at it! I can mill wood, plastic, aluminum, or I can cast your part in aluminum as well!
